The Community Benefits

• More people frequent the area because of the safety of the car park. In Derby Parksafe has helped to rejuvenate the area. Since January 1998 new businesses have set up around the car park:- cafes, restaurants, night clubs, shops, etc providing extra employment and extra facilities.
  
• Home Office figures show considerable savings due to a zero crime car park:
  - car theft costs £4700 per incident
  - theft from cars £480 per incident
  Based on 1997 figures prior to Parksafe the annual cost of crime at Bold Lane equated to an astonishing £80,220 excluding graffiti, vandalism, muggings etc.
  Please note it is generally accepted only 1 in 4 incidents are ever reported. So the true figure could be as high as £320,000.
